About the game
A free song guessing game for Bollywood fans
Sargam is a quick, free song guessing game you play right in your browser. We play you a tiny clip of a mystery song, just 0.4 seconds of it, and you guess the song. Wrong guesses unlock more of the clip, up to 15 seconds, so the faster you recognise the song, the higher you score.
It is built for anyone who grew up with Hindi film music: the classic melodies of the 70s and 90s, the chartbusters of the 2000s, and the songs on every playlist today. Play one round on a break or keep going to build a streak.
How to play Sargam
- Press play. The first clip is only 0.4 seconds long, taken from the hook of the song.
- Type a song title, artist or film and pick the match from the list.
- Wrong guess or skip? The clip gets longer, up to 15 seconds. You get 6 attempts per song.
- After two misses, a decade and genre clue appears when one is available.
- Guess with less audio to score higher, and keep your streak going song after song.
Guess the song from any era
Choose the tape you want to play before a run. Old covers Bollywood songs from 1960 to 1999, New covers 2000 to today, and All eras mixes the whole catalog. It makes a good music quiz whether you only know the hits or know every soundtrack.
Frequently asked questions

- The catalog is mostly Bollywood and Hindi film songs. Pick the Old tape for classics from 1960 to 1999, the New tape for hits from 2000 to today, or All eras to mix everything.
- How is Sargam different from Heardle?
- Like Heardle, Sargam gives you a short clip that grows with every wrong guess. Unlike Heardle, there is no one-song-a-day limit: you can keep playing song after song, choose an era, and chase a streak. You can also search by film name, not just song or artist.

- Live multiplayer rooms, where friends race to guess the same song, are coming soon. A daily challenge, where everyone plays the same set of songs, is on the way too.
- Does it work on my phone?
